INTRODUCING ARTIST LOTTIE RAE

The Australian contemporary artist who’s redefining cool from the serene surroundings of regional NSW. Lottie has a knack for transforming the nostalgia of the 80s and 90s into captivating art pieces. With a palette that’s heavy on neon and a heart that beats for the glory days, Lottie’s creations are as unique as her inspirations.

How do you describe your art in your own words?

I describe my art as "Bitta cool, Bitta chaos". I’d say my art is a blend of spontaneity and nostalgia. I paint whatever catches my interest at the moment, often inspired by the charm of the past. I love capturing the essence of modern and vintage, and I usually work with acrylics to bring those ideas to life.

Could you explain your creative process?

I like to reimagine modern scenes through a vintage lens. I draw loads of inspiration from my classic Australian Childhood. I'm not locked down on a specific vibe or idea; I'll pretty much paint anything, anywhere - with a bit of Lottie Rae flair (haha)

Could you talk us through a day in the life of you as an artist?

I'm lucky enough to have an Art Studio in my backyard, So my Art life and Family life often merge together (even when i don't want them to haha). I've got two little boys Ted and Jimmy and my Husband Ned is a Farmer. I like to start every day with a coffee and it's even better if I can end it with a beer. On any given day you'll find me in my studio, tunes pumping, whipping up a creation.

What Artists do you look to for inspiration? Any medium!

Fav visual artist 10000% Laura Jones - i've loved her forever. I love her layering and texture.

Favourite vocal artist Zach Bryan - I get a lot of inspo from his storytelling through song.

Could you talk us through your collaboration with BT?

Absolutely! Collaborating with Bohemian Traders has been an incredible experience. Emily, the owner, actually reached out to me on Instagram after seeing some of my artwork, which was such a pinch me moment! From there, we worked closely together to bring some of my designs to life in the latest collection. It was amazing to see my art transform into fashion and to be part of such a creative process. I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity and thrilled with how everything turned out. It’s been a dream collaboration!
